Antibacterial Activity Study

Antibacterial activity study

Natural antibiotics have the advantages of low toxicity, high antibacterial activity, and low resistance to antibiotics compared to traditional antibiotics. Therefore, searching for new antibiotics from natural sources will be a way to find new antibiotics. Lifeasible can quickly screen plant extracts with antibacterial activity, and quickly screen antibacterial active components and ingredients from them, to help you find new antibacterial drug ingredients from natural plant extracts and can test the antibacterial active substances of plant extracts.

Our Services for Antibacterial Activity Study

The plant extract may be extracted from a variety of solvents, or a component or single ingredient obtained by a variety of separation and purification methods. The samples to be tested may be screened in small or large quantities, and in the case of large quantities, they may be screened using high-throughput screening techniques.

The high-throughput screening technology we provide is a new technology system formed by an organic combination of various technical methods. It is based on molecular and cellular experimental methods, using microplates as the carrier of experimental tools, executing the experimental process with an automated operating system, collecting experimental data with sensitive and rapid detection instruments, and analyzing and processing the data obtained by computer. Thousands or tens of thousands of samples can be tested at the same time, and the normal operation of the whole technical system is supported by the corresponding database.

  • Preparation of plant extracts, or the establishment of an extract library on the basis thereof, or components or ingredients obtained by isolation and purification.
  • Cultivate different bacteria or fungi according to their culture conditions (conventional culture methods).
  • Add each sample to be tested to the bacterial or fungal culture.
  • Incubate under bacterial or fungal culture conditions for 12-24 hours for incubation.
  • Add a bladed azurite indicator (as an indicator for screening assays with antimicrobial activity) to each culture solution.
  • Judging the survival of bacteria based on the color change of bladed azurite, and thus determining whether the plant extract component or ingredient has antibacterial activity.

Bacteria or fungi in the wells are alive, i.e., if the sample has no or only very weak bacteriostatic activity, then it is pink or red. If the bacteria or fungi in the wells are dead, i.e., the sample has or had strong bacteriostatic activity, the color is blue.

Lifeasible offers easy-to-use methods for testing the antibacterial activity of plant extracts and obtaining clear results, which can help you to quickly screen plant extracts for antibacterial activity and to quickly screen antibacterial active components and ingredients from them, providing a basis for drug research. Of course, our services can also be used for the detection of antibacterial active ingredients in plants. Please feel free to contact us with your testing needs.
