Acaricidal Activity Study

Acaricidal Activity Study

Agricultural pest mites are recognized as one of the world's most difficult biological groups to control. Agricultural pest mites are characterized by their tiny size, wide range of activity, rapid reproduction, short generation cycle, and strong resistance. Acaricides are the main means to control mites in modern agriculture, but the problem of mite resistance in agriculture is becoming increasingly serious. Lifeasible provides you with isolation, characterization, and testing services for acaricidal activity in plant extracts, to facilitate the development of green and environmentally friendly agricultural acaricides.

Our Services

  • Separation and determination of acaricidal active components of plant extracts
    • We can use liquid-liquid partitioning or column chromatography to select plant extracts with higher acaricidal activity for further isolation and determination of acaricidal activity based on the preliminary results of acaricidal activity screening.
    • We can determine the acaricidal activity of different fractions obtained by column chromatography of plant body extracts using the bioactivity tracking method and calculate the regression equation of toxicity.
    • We can use two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography to identify and determine the purity and principal components of plant extracts with acaricidal activity.
  • Acaricidal activity in plant extracts
  • We used Tetranychus cinnabarinus as an indicator organism to determine the acaricidal effect of plant extracts on adult mites using a modified slide impregnation method and the ovicidal effect of plant extracts using a modified leaf residue method.

    • Determination of oviposition inhibition of indicator organisms by plant extracts.
    • Determination of repellent activity of plant extracts against indicator organisms.

In addition to Tetranychus cinnabarinus, we also offer Panonychus citri and Tetranychus urticae as indicator organisms. Please inform us in advance if you need to specify.

  • Structural identification of acaricidal active substances in plant extracts
  • We used an NMR instrument and selected suitable internal standards to collect the 1H-NMR spectrum and 13C-NMR spectrum data of the acaricidal active substances in plant extracts and then combined them with the NMR data of the compounds reported in the literature and the database to identify the structures of the compounds.

Preparation of samples to be analyzed

To study the acaricidal activity of a plant, it is best to take separate samples from different parts of the plant such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, etc. This is because the acaricidal activity of some plants may be distributed throughout the plant. This is because, in some acaricidal plants, the acaricidal active substances may be distributed in different parts of the plant. We can prepare plant extracts from different parts of the plant at different stages of development, use a range of solvents for extraction and separation, and systematically analyze the dynamics of the acaricidal activity of the plant extracts.

Why Choose Us?

Plant-derived pesticides, a class of pesticides made by using biologically active plants or extracting their active ingredients, have become an important option for the integrated management of pests. Lifeasible provides you with technical support services centered around the isolation of acaricidal active ingredients in plant extracts, formulation development, application tests, and toxicological studies. We can help you develop new, efficient, and safe acaricides of plant origin for the treatment of common agricultural pest mites. Please feel free to contact us for a proposal that meets your research needs.
